Metal structured packing is a type of material widely used in absorption and distillation columns, as well as chemical reactors. Packed with thin corrugated metallic plates or wire gauze, it is arranged at a uniform geometry and neatly stacked in a tower. It features large surface area, low pressure drop, and uniform fluid and heat transfer efficiency, making it a popular choice in such applications.
Metal tower packing is made by rolling a small profile bellows at a metallic sheet surface. This unique material has exceptional resistance, uniform gas-liquid distribution, high efficiency, large flux, and hardly any enlarging effect, making it suitable for both vacuum and pressure operations.
New tower design can reduce tower diameter while keeping high capacity. Remodeling old towers can also increase capacity significantly.
Compared to random packing, it is shown to have much larger specific surface area, resulting in high separation efficiency.
A low pressure drop helps to reduce energy consumption significantly.
This packing is quite flexible and the scale effect is not obvious.
